Hi guys, finally the blog is up and runnnig. My week is just not the same without seeing what you guys are up to. Loved the pics of Rusty and the cauliflower. Thursday in the truck on the way to our CSA drop off Ben had a small head of purple cabbage in his lab and was having a riot pulling the leaves off and handing them to Jake. Too funny. Hope Rusty continues to be a good eater, the boys suddenly decided last week they no longer liked potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes or anything else farm grown. It's all bread all the time or anything with eggs. I'm being creative by cooking veggies and mashing them and then putting them in a fritatta so they are still getting the veggies without knowing it. I hope you guys are getting along well with the farm and Rusty.
Love this post! Last year was months of pnmeionua, a pulled shoulder that took six months to heal, six months of insurance stuff with the blown water heater, fertility doctors who couldn't tell me why i was shut down, and closed with the divorce of my parents after forty years. On the other hand, God uprooted us and planted us in a town that is so friendly, with a better church than i could imagine, gave us another little baby when we thought we were through, and gave me a vision of the possibility of Godly husbands and wives for my children! My husband is so much happier at his new job and scored a+ on his latest master's course.I could not have foreseen this back in January when we sat in Boston Pizza and tried to plan our way out. God did this for us, gave us so much more than we were even hoping for...I posted this on my facebook wall so when i fall on hard times again, i will read words i know are true :)Stephanie
Right on point Rachel. One other idea would to have this party at home and have make-up, hair supplies and dress-up clehtos on hand that Jordyn and her friends can use to create their own looks. Or do some paper bag dramatics where the girls are split into groups and given a paper bag with wacky and fun costume pieces and props that they have to use to dress each other with and create a little skit or tableau for the rest of the party. You might also consider hiring your favorite teenager, babysitter or young neighbor (or two or three) to serve as the make-up artists and hairstylists. It seems a little excessive to be paying salon professionals for a child's birthday party. You could even have someone on hand as the photographer to take fun polaroids of the girls which they could take home as party favors (or even decorate as an art project during the party). I don't think it's unreasonable to have a birthday party that involves make-up and dress-up. I think the key to keeping it age appropriate is to make sure the goal isn't to have all the girls looking like pageant contestants before they go home.
Wow! Great to find a post knnocikg my socks off!
